Bend has plenty of places to move. I wanted one to come together.
During COVID, connection meant virtual happy hours, drinking at home in front of a screen. Even once we could gather again, drinks were still at the center, because that’s simply how we socialize. It got me thinking: what if there were a way to come together and unwind where alcohol wasn’t the point?
My mind went straight to the hot springs at Paulina, Summer Lake and Crane, and refreshing plunges into the river, and the many Cascade lakes. Jump in together and conversation flows, strangers become friends, and it’s all so simple. It’s why bathhouses were once the social heart of their towns.
We wanted to bring that experience to Bend, and that’s how Flux started. A place to put your phone away, feel present as you move between hot and cold, and really connect to the people around you.
My favorite thing about Flux is seeing how people react when they first walk in, and how transformed they feel as they leave. The delight when they realize that not only are there six pools at different temperatures, there are no time limits. Strangers falling into deep conversations and leaving as friends. I especially love the personal notes that guests send us after soaking at Flux.

Flux is Bend’s only hydrothermal lounge: six hot and cold pools, a suspended cloud installation by a local artist, and folding doors that open onto the patio on summer evenings. It feels part bathhouse culture, part après-ski and entirely Central Oregon.
